from petroglyphs to pixels. Resources include the following :

Early Recorded Sounds and Wax Cylinders - This site is an exploration of the early  cutting-edge technology at the end of the 19th century. Listen to the cylinder of the month .  Included is the  Thomas Alva Edison Commemorative page . Links page also useful for further research .

The World's Earliest Television Recordings - This British site deals with  mechanical scanning to create a small imperfect image on  cathode-ray tube. Restored recordings from 1927-1935 including Baird's experimental recordings, private BBC recordings from the 1930s,

Transistorized ! The transistor was possibly the greatest invention of the twentieth century . This  American PBS site includes a  timeline of discovery . There was a time when every teenager in North America had a transistor radio the way today's teens now have CD-players . No transistor - no rock 'n roll  !
